Kathleen Hermesdorf
Kathleen Hermesdorf began dancing in San Francisco in 1991. She formed Motion-Lab, a perpetual experiment of dance training, choreography, improvisation, performance & music production with musician Albert Mathias in 1998 and acts as its Artistic Director. The duo have been on faculty at ODC School since 1996. She also currently works in the companies of Sara Shelton mann/Contraband and Bebe Miller. Hermesdorf has been called "...possibly the most vibrant dancer currently working in the Bay Area, she sets fire to the stage whenever she’s on it. Hermesdorf has been a guest artist at Movement Research/NY, Links Hall/Chicago, WCCIF/Berkeley, Stanford University, Sonoma State University, University of Illinois, Seattle Festival of Alternative Dance & Improv-isation, Dancers Workshop/Wyoming, K77 & TanzFabrik/Berlin and Kelemanis/Marseille and taught classes and workshops for Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Contraband, Dancers’ Group, Rhythm & Motion Dance Center and ODC School, Company & Kid’s Program. She holds a BFA in Dance from Western Michigan University, an MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois and certification from the Shiatsu Institute in San Francisco.
