EXPERIMENTING WITH
MOVEMENT, PERSPECTIVE AND VIDEO
Experiment in this hands-on workshop with filmmaker Barbara Bickart, who merges
video and choreographic elements in her own practice, and has developed methods
for combining the essence of filmmaking with choreography in no-tech, low-tech,
and high-tech settings. After showing some excerpts of her own work Barbara
will share strategies and exercises in this workshop that can be translated to
diverse teaching situations. The workshop will focus on creating a series of
short, parameter-driven, movement/video experiments, using in-camera editing.
If possible, bring a video camera if you have one that can accommodate an RCA
(red, yellow, white) cable for connecting to our screening television, and a
tape or memory card. There will be some additional cameras available.
