BIGS AND LITTLES: A workshop in parent-child dance teaching
BIGS AND LITTLES: A workshop in parent-child dance teaching

Movement is our first expressive and aesthetic experience. We DANCE from the time we are born, if not before. The early years are a critical time for developing understanding of self, others, and the world around us. How do we create experiences for the youngest children (0-5 yrs) to express, explore, create, move and dance? Teaching infants, babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their adult caregivers has unique opportunities and challenges. Dance educator Monica Cameron Frichtel has developed an approach informed by research, collaboration, and practice. Join Monica in a parent-child movement class, which will be followed by further movement exploration, interspersed with dialogue about teaching practices, challenges, and strategies for engaging children and their adult dance partners. Children 0-5 years encouraged to attend with their adult partners, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm.

Monica Cameron Frichtel is a dance educator and researcher. She teaches community classes for infants through adults. She is also an adjunct instructor at Temple University teaching general education students, dance undergraduate and graduate students, and pre-service physical education teachers. Dr. Frichtel is a graduate of Temple University’s EdM and PhD programs in dance where she focused on dance education theory and practice.Location: Philadelphia Dance Academy at Creative Arts Building219 Cuthbert St. 3rd FloorPhiladelphia, PA 19106See map: Google Maps
