BILATERAL 2015
Budapest/ Philadelphia
Dance Artist Residency Exchange

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2015

To date six contemporary dance artists have participated in a unique 3 week artist residency exchange through Philadelphia Dance Projects (PDP) in partnership with DanceUP and the Hungary Workshop:

2012 Ferenc Feher, Katya Lengel/Budapest
2013 Tori Lawrence, Guillermo Ortega/Philadelphia
2014 Adrienn Hod, Judit Szamos/Budapest

PDP will continue this DanceUP initiative with the Hungary Foundation in 2015. Philadelphia dance artists now have the opportunity to travel to Budapest, Hungary for an artist residency in the Fall of 2015. Philly artists will be invited to explore dance and other cultural resources of Budapest, as research for their own creative work and professional growth. This Budapest/Philadelphia Dance Artist Residency Exchange is artist centered, but the intent is to reveal some of the experience of dance artists in both cities as well as build connections between the two artistic communities.

The guest artists will be free to develop an open ended residency with activities that could include, creative time, informal studio showings of work, attending performances, meeting other artists, etc. Individual artists are invited to learn about and experience another dance-making milieu, perhaps different from the one they are used to functioning in, to stimulate their own creative ideas and process, and to foster new relationships growing out of the exchange/sharing of artistic ideas and resources. The Project will cover costs for Bilateral artists’ travel, housing and per diem.

Selected Artists will be notified May 4, 2015.

This special project is made possible with support from the Trust For Mutual Understanding and DanceUSA.
