For three weeks beginning September 10th, Hungarian Choreographers Ferenc Feher and Katalin Lengyel will take part in a special artist residency program developed by DanceUP, The Hungary Workshop Foundation and Philadelphia Dance Projects. Artists are invited to explore dance and other cultural resources of Philadelphia as research for their own creative work and professional growth. The guest artists will be free to experience an open ended residency with activities that can mine available resources.  A reciprocal exchange residency in Budapest for Philadelphia dance artists is being planned.

Artists

Katalin Lengyel

Katalin Lengyel comes from Szeged, Hungary, and studied literature and linguistics at the University there before turning to dance full time. After training at the Institute for Dance Art in Linz, Austria, she spent a year developing her artistic voice in residence at the Daghdha Mentoring Programme in Ireland. Currently living in Budapest, she organizes the cross-disciplinary festival ‘Frissek’ and makes her own work. Ferenc Fehér

Ferenc Fehér did not have formal training in dance, but rather developed his physical language through free style dancing and martial arts. He takes a great interest in studying the movement of animals and the natural world.
