Join Dance TAG for a workshop about inspiring dancers with rhythm play and phrase building activities. Co-taught by Philadelphia-based dancer Melissa Chisena and multi-disciplinary musician Jonathan Cannon, the session will focus on finding rhythm, pulse, tempo, syncopation and polyrhythms in movement. Dance teaching artists and choreographers will find material for a range of levels and ages, from non-dancer to advanced, as well as choreographic tools for creating dynamically-charged movement phrasing, using a variety of rhythm patterns.
Melissa Chisena is a teacher, dancer, choreographer, and producer in the Philadelphia area. She is the artistic director of Chisena Danza and has danced and toured with Richmond Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Jeanne Ruddy Dance, and Tania Isaac Dance, among others. Melissa curates and produces An Evening of Duets and The Philadelphia Youth Dance Fest.
